Carbon-Limits Nigeria (CLN) is a climate consultancy which focuses on providing technical and advisory services related to Climate Change and Sustainable Development Projects. Established in 2010 as a joint venture between Nigerian partners and Carbon Limits AS of Norway, CLN combines local expertise with international technical experience developed across multiple emerging markets.
Headquartered in Lagos, CLN supports public and private sector organizations across sectors including oil and gas, power, and renewable energy. Since its inception, the company has been involved in carbon market project development, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management, and climate policy implementation.
Over the years, CLN has developed strong expertise in GHG inventories, MRV systems, carbon market development, and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation. The company also provides capacity-building and technical advisory services to help institutions and companies identify emissions reduction opportunities and access climate finance. Through its work, CLN continues to support the development of credible climate solutions and emission reduction opportunities in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
CLN has led and contributed to several strategic initiatives, including the design of a pilot carbon pricing framework for Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, the delivery of MRV capacity-building programs for regulators and oil and gas operators supported by the World Bank, and the development of carbon market projects in the oil and gas sector, including initiatives linked to emissions reduction technologies such as Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs). CLN has also supported organizations with GHG inventories, emissions monitoring systems, and carbon project development, helping translate climate policy into practical implementation. Through its advisory work with public institutions, regulators, and industry operators, CLN continues to play a role in strengthening the technical foundations needed for credible carbon markets and effective climate action in Nigeria.
